Culture in Fliess
Fliess is located on the 2000-year old road of the ancient Romans, Via Claudia Augusta. The finds which have been excavated in the vicinity are on view at the Archaeological Museum in Fliess.
On a guided tour of the village, fascinating cultural connections and archeological finds can be seen close-up. The roundabout tour takes place every Wednesday from the beginning of May until mid-October. Free-of-charge with the TirolWestCard.
The museum houses weapons, jewellery and coins from prehistoric times and the Bronze Age. The Maria Himmelfahrt parish church (sometimes called Maasskirche) is also worth a visit. At the Documentation Centre, excavated finds from the ancient Roman Emperor’s Road, as well as the only surviving ancient Roman road map, can be seen and admired.
In Tirol’s first Nature Park House there is not only a splendid hiking region, but also the multi-media exhibition known as “3000 m VERTICAL” - well worth a visit.
