Culture in Tirol
Landeck Castle, the emblem of Landeck, is situated atop a steep rock overlooking the Inn. It was built in the early part of the 13th century. The “Homeland Museum of a different kind” showcases life in the homeland and abroad. The gallery exhibits contemporary regional and international artists. In the immediate vicinity you will also find the lovely swimming lake Tramser See, with a huge lounging lawn and playground.
Every Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, you can pamper yourself with a visit to the Fresh produce market on Malserstrasse in Landeck with regional and organic products. Ranging from fruit and vegetables to speck (mountain bacon) and cheese, you can immerse into the world of local products.
Discover the mysterious ravine in Zams, one of the oldest power plants in Tirol. The Zammer Lochputz can be enjoyed by one and all, young and old, with its water-thrills ascent. Steps and chimneys lead up to the 30m-higher Lötzer Waterfalls and the demo powerplant - a visit is an unforgettable experience.
At the narrowest point of the valley between Nauders and Pfunds is the old fortress of Altfinstermünz, formerly a bastion protecting the borders, today an inn with its own beer brewery. Built in the 12th century, the fortress awakes enthusiasm nowadays for different reasons: its site, architecture, the wooden bridge, the 17m-high bridge tower and the 100-cm thick walls. A variety of exhibitions can be visited distributed through the year.
